Overview of our League

The New Prairie Soccer Club is a recreational league that utilizes volunteer coaches to help train our players and prepare them for more advanced soccer when they get to middle school.  We are open to students in grade K-5, and when a student moves to 6th grade we also have a semi-travel league that we utilize. Our focus in our K-5 league is growth, improvement, and having fun.  The league is directed by the Head Boys and Girls Soccer Coaches at New Prairie High School.  All games and practices are currently played at Prairie View Elementary School, and games are always played on Sundays after 1:00 PM CST.  

Players are split into 3 divisions in our elementary league.  Kindergarten/1st grade, 2nd/3rd grade, and 4th/5th grade are the divisions that we use, however a student who has been retained may be advanced so that he/she may play with students their own age.  

The focus of our K/1 division is to teach them basic soccer skills (striking, dribbling, passing) as well as positions and spreading out.  This league plays 5 v 5 on a small field with 4'x6' goals and no goalie.  This division does not have an end of season tournament.

Our 2nd/3rd grade division is focused on continuing to concrete basic soccer skills, positions, but also introducing passing as the preferred way to advance the ball rather than just dribbling.  This division plays 7 v 7 and uses a 40 yard x 60 yard field with 6' x 18' goals.  A goalie is used in this league. This division has an end of season tournament. 

Our 4th/5th grade division is focused on preparing the student for more advanced out of district play against semi - travel and travel teams.  Though there are beginning players in this division, typically most players in this division have 3-5 seasons of experience.  Players are expected to have a firm grasp of basic soccer skills and should be beginning to work on more advanced skills.  This league plays 9 v 9 and uses a 45 yard x 70 yard field with 6' x 18' goals.  This division has an end of season tournament.
